The goal of the 2012-2015 project was to strengthen and sustain nursing’s involvement in Smoking Cessation best practices with a stronger emphasis on creating broad changes that support implementation activities related at the organisational level. RNAO was positioned to improve and enhance various deliverables that enabled the project to expand and reach more individuals and organisations across the 3-year plan.

In year 1 a total of 8 implementation sites were selected over 18 months. In year 2, Cohort 1 sites became mentors for the 8 new sites to be added as Cohort 2. Cohort 1 sites provided lessons learned and valuable insights to assist in knowledge transfer for Cohort 2 sites.

Year 3, implementation sites in both Cohorts 1 and 2 focused the internal spread, sustainability, monitoring impact, evaluation and preparation for these sites to become mentor sites, for additional organisations in the future.
