RNAO Clinical Best Practice Tobacco Intervention Initiative

Helping to build capacity among nurses and other
health care professionals to implement and
sustain tobacco interventions best practices in daily
nursing practice.

This initiative strives to reduce tobacco users across Ontario by equipping nurses and other health-care professionals with the knowledge and skills to support clients on their quit journey. By training Tobacco Intervention Champions through workshops, e-learns, and webinars, and preparing and supporting health-care organizations as Implementation Sites to implement the RNAO Best Practice Guideline Integrating Tobacco Interventions into Daily Practice (Third Edition), this initiative is arming nurses with critical resources to speak to their clients about their tobacco status and provide support and interventions.

RNAO Clinical Best Practice Tobacco Intervention Initiative has been funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care since 2007.
