Integrating and implementing the best practices guidelines

The RNAO has created a number of programs to help organizations and individual nurses implement Best Practice Guidelines.

Resources like the Implementation Toolkit and Educator's Resource provide strategies, information and planning tools to help health care settings to make the recommendations of the Integrating Smoking Cessation into Daily Nursing Practice guideline a reality in their setting.

Spotlight Organizations:

  • As well as using tools created by RNAO to implement guidelines, organizations can also make a formal commitment to uptake of BPGs.
  • Spotlight Organizations are health-care organizations selected by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) through a Request for Proposals process to implement, evaluate and share lessons learned from their guideline experiences and research findings.

Nursing Best Practice Champions Network:

  • Individual nurses can also make a commitment to RNAO BPGs.
  • Best Practice Champions are nurses and other health care professionals who are passionate about improving nursing practice and client care in their organization. Champions can be anyone who will be able to have organizational and/or unit/program level influence.
