Canadian Smoking Cessation Guideline Version 2.0 Launches June 2010

CAN-ADAPTT is pleased to announce that the next version (2.0) of the national smoking cessation guideline will be released June 4th, 2010. The revised guideline will include updates on the following recommendations: Pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum smokers; Youth, and Counselling. Practitioner feedback through breakout group discussion and workbook analysis from the November 2009 guideline revision workshop, along with edits and revisions from the Guideline Development Group jointly function to inform this next iteration of the tobacco cessation guideline. The guideline will be launched via the CAN-ADAPTT website, so be sure to check back in early June to review and comment on these updated recommendations. Recommendations relating to mental health, hospital-based patients, medications and First Nations/Aboriginal populations will be released late summer 2010.

In anticipation of the June release, CAN-ADAPTT is seeking opportunities to disseminate, encourage adoption and advance the use of this dynamic Canadian smoking cessation guideline. This could include communicating the guideline to your colleagues, identifying vehicles of communication (i.e.: listservs, newsletters, e-bulletins, conferences, workshops) to promote advancement and uptake, or opportunities to obtain your feedback through teleconferences/web casts.
